I’d love for you to join me for an upcoming workshop.

Brayer Offset Inking Methods with Large Wood Type at Ladies of Letterpress in Saint Louis

October 2-5, 2019
My Workshop is Friday, October 4th from 9 am – 12 at Central Print

In this half-day workshop we will explore brayer offset inking methods. This is an inking technique that produces one-of-a-kind prints with a lot of depth and dimension. We will create interesting textures and patterns using proof presses, wood type, and brayers. The brayers become our tools for transferring images onto large wood type or directly onto the paper. Expect to make multiple prints while learning tips and tricks for exploring a fun method of creating unique imagery.

The Ladies of Letterpress conference registration includes all-you can schedule workshops, panel discussions and presentations, after-workshop mixers, a ticket to the banquet on Saturday, and a great big bag of swag. The eighth (!) Ladies of Letterpress conference will take place October 3-6, 2019, in St. Louis, MO! We’re happy to be partnering, for the third time, with St Louis’ Print Week, hosted by Firecracker Press and Central Print Studios.

I’ve been working on new prints in 2019 and 2020.

Kinship Patterns
Exhibition at Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum, Two Rivers, WI

On Display: January 8-March 30, 2019

Workshop: Saturday, March 23, 2018, 9am - 4pm

Gallery Reception: Saturday, March 23, 5-7 pm

Kinship is the web of social relationships that we form in our lives. There are many ways that we build community and this network can include both family and social connections. This act of tying yourself to others creates a sense of belonging and fellowship. There are many ways to look at these connections and through that exploration patterns and kin groups arise. In her work Stephanie Carpenter examines the way we create our own unique communities.

This exhibit features prints and an installation that were created using vintage wood and hand-carved blocks at the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum.

End of Times 3: Precious Time

The first one was timed for the end of the Mayan Calendar (12/21/12), and the second (themed “The Time is Now”) was timed for the 2016 U.S. presidential inauguration. (View past portfolios.) The exhibition will kick off in St. Joseph, Minnesota, and then tour around the United States.
